Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team as a technical lead. This role is integral to providing technical expertise, assurance, and oversight, supporting the delivery of engineering projects and services to meet customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide in-depth technical support and expertise, including tasks such as BOM checks, condition assessments, job pack creation, preparation for overhauls, fault investigations, and diagnosis.
- Lead engineering change initiatives, concessions, method statements, component overhaul instructions, test procedures, and the design of tooling.
- Conduct material analysis and comparisons, compile and review technical reports, and support preparation for First Article Inspections (FAIs).
- Develop deep technical knowledge to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with our mechanical systems.
- Oversee the review and approval of work produced by other members of the engineering team, ensuring all outputs align with the organisation's quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and workshop fitters, fostering their development in product knowledge, safety practices, technical skills, and engineering processes.
- Review and assess drawings, designs, and documentation produced for reverse engineering projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Minimum HNC/HND qualification (or equivalent) in a mechanically biased engineering discipline. A higher qualification is advantageous.
- At least 7 – 10 years of professional engineering experience, with a strong balance of hands-on engineering, reverse engineering, testing, problem-solving, and technical process writing.
- Extensive experience in conducting condition assessments, technical investigations, and managing engineering tasks from concept through to completion.
- Familiarity with multiple industries, such as Automotive, Rail, Marine, Power, Renewables, Oil and Gas, Aviation, and others is highly desirable.
- Must have a hands-on, flexible, and proactive approach to problem-solving and project management.
- Fluent in technical and conversational English with strong communication skills to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrates commercial awareness and experience, understanding the impact of engineering decisions on contracts and business outcomes.
- A self-starter with a strong ability to learn and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
- A collaborative team player who is committed to continuous improvement and excellence in engineering.
- IT literate with a good understanding of relevant engineering software and tools.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management system standards and production processes.
