Job Title: HGV/LGV Class 1 Driver

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HGV/LGV Class 1 Driver to join our team at Great Bear. As a key member of our transport department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Transport Coordinator at the start of each shift and ensure correct completion of paperwork.
  • Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including health, safety, and hygiene protocols.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of operations within the transport department and ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure.
  • Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks, and ensure regular communication with the Transport Office/Customer Services.
  • Make deliveries to customers' premises, acting in a professional manner at all times, and ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery.
  • Achieve and succeed fuel efficiency targets set by the business and comply with on-site health and safety requirements.

Requirements:

  • Hold a valid HGV 1/C+E Licence and have a minimum of 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience.
  • No more than 6 points, no DD/DR Code convictions, and hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.
  • Understand and able to comply with Driver's hours and WTD legislation, and able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
