Maxwell Consultancy is seeking a highly skilled Sensor Technologies Engineer to join our team in Glasgow, Scotland. Our company specializes in providing advanced monitoring and control systems for the power industry, utilizing patented core technologies.

Overview of Role

The successful candidate will be part of a growing specialist team within the technology division, contributing to significant parts of the development cycle from design, simulation, and prototyping of new hardware and readout algorithms to developing calibration and testing protocols for deployment of commercial systems.

The role is focused on the development of instrumentation for the power industry, utilizing both electronic and photonic technologies. Prior experience and confidence in an electronics or photonics laboratory or development environment will be important.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design, simulate, and prototype new hardware and readout algorithms
  2. Develop calibration and testing protocols for deployment of commercial systems
  3. Contribute to the development of instrumentation for the power industry
  4. Work on the development of sensors or instrumentation in a relevant field
  5. Collaborate with clients and partners to deliver high-quality solutions

Requirements

  1. Excellent postgraduate qualification in an engineering or physics discipline
  2. 2+ years postgraduate experience in an industrial or research laboratory environment
  3. Excellent experimental design, execution, and evaluation skills
  4. Experience of design and testing of electronic or photonic systems, or systems of similar complexity
  5. Matlab, C, and/or Python fluency for simulation, algorithm development, and data analysis
  6. Fibre optics and optoelectronic system knowledge beneficial
  7. Practical working knowledge of optical componentry and test equipment
  8. Excellent verbal communication skills, with an ability to discuss technical information in clear and simple terms with colleagues and customers
  9. Self-motivation, proactive attitude, and an ability to work autonomously, including the ability to manage own time and workload effectively
  10. Confidence with both independent research and time management, and collaborative team-working, in a high-technology environment
  11. Ability to prepare concise, accurate, high-quality documents and presentations, with excellent attention to detail

Pay: £42000 - £45000
Schedule: Monday to Friday, No weekends
