Support Worker for Children in Foster Care

We are seeking a skilled Support Worker to join our team, working with children in foster care. As a vital member of our staff, you will play a critical role in supporting these vulnerable young people and their families.
Main Responsibilities- Facilitate therapeutic family time between children and their parents or other family members, promoting positive relationships and fostering healthy interactions.
- Coordinate arrangements for Family Time, ensuring seamless communication and efficient planning to meet the needs of all parties involved.
- Transport children and young people to attend family time, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in your approach.
- Provide parenting support and guidance during Family Time, utilizing your expertise to empower parents and enhance their ability to care for their children.
- Support the completion of accurate documentation, reports, and records in relation to children, young people, and families, maintaining high standards of professionalism and attention to detail.
- Be available outside of traditional working patterns, including evenings and weekends, to provide essential support to children, families, and carers when needed.
- A minimum NVQ 3 in working with children and families or equivalent experience of working with children and families, demonstrating a strong foundation in child development and welfare.
- Experience of direct work with children, their families, and carers in a statutory or voluntary agency providing services to vulnerable children and their families, showcasing your ability to build strong relationships and deliver effective interventions.
- Experience in the use of IT, including Microsoft packages, highlighting your proficiency in modern technology and digital tools.
- An understanding of child development and the effect of stress and trauma on child development, as well as an awareness of key policies, guidance, and legislation governing children's social care.
- Unrestricted use of a car and a driving licence, ensuring you can travel efficiently and safely to appointments and engagements.
- The ability to effectively communicate with children, their families, and carers, possessing excellent interpersonal skills and a warm, empathetic demeanor.
- The ability to build relationships and deliver interventions to children, families, and carers, leveraging your creativity and problem-solving abilities to address complex challenges.
£25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience, reflecting the importance we place on fair compensation and career progression.
