About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Director to lead our tunnelling team and drive the growth of our tunnel design business. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the technical leadership of the team, providing guidance and training to foster the development of professional staff, and developing tunnelling-specific business strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical leadership of the tunnelling team
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to foster the development of professional staff
  • Drive the growth of the tunnel design business and develop tunnelling-specific business strategies
  • Lead bidding and tender submission efforts
  • Ensure timely submission of deliverables, oversee technical checks, monitor budgets, and manage commercial aspects of projects
  • Collaborate closely with the Board and Engineering Design Practice Lead, contributing to the strategic development of the company

Requirements

  • Postgraduate qualifications in civil engineering
  • A minimum of 20 years' experience
  • Chartered status in civil or structural engineering, with membership in relevant professional bodies
  • Strong interpersonal and technical skills, with proven ability to lead tunnelling design teams
  • Significant experience in tunnelling design within a fast-paced engineering consultancy environment
  • A solid commercial track record
  • Proficiency in BIM and other relevant design software
