To drive innovation and excellence in the rail industry, we're seeking a highly skilled Fleet Safety and Reliability Engineer to join our team at Siemens Mobility Limited.

This role involves analyzing fleet safety performance, implementing improvement actions, and developing and managing the Fleet Safety Plan. You will also monitor fleet reliability, take corrective and proactive measures, and lead efforts to develop predictive models that drive continuous year-over-year improvement for the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and/or lead review of all fleet safety-related incidents, problem reports, and review the applicability of the raised National Incident Reports.
  • Own and update Key Performance Indicators to help visualize fleet safety performance.
  • Support project and engineering teams by using data to create improvement plans and lead efforts to develop predictive models.
  • Lead and coordinate safety investigations to identify root causes, develop mitigation actions, and compile risk assessments for product safety.
  • Leverage emerging technologies to create safety indicators and recommend solutions to improve fleet safety and mitigate SRDs.
  • Manage engineering reliability projects from planning to completion, ensuring best-in-class reliability processes throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Predict and model the reliability of complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, using RAMS data to evaluate and improve component reliability.
  • Maintain close collaboration with Fleet Performance Teams to identify and address emerging reliability trends and potential failure modes.
  • Represent Siemens in industry safety communities, ensuring alignment with broader safety standards and practices.

Requirements:

  • HND / HNC / BTEC / CTEC qualification or higher equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience in a railway / rolling stock environment.
  • Strong understanding of railway maintenance techniques, procedures, and systems, including reading mechanical/electrical drawings and systematic fault finding.
  • Proficient in analyzing technical reports and applying Reliability and Availability analyses.
  • Ability to work independently, set clear targets, and achieve project goals with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in customer and supplier relations, with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in IT systems and software.

Desirable Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of EN 5012X (50126 – RAMS, 50128 – Software, 50129 – System safety).
  • Knowledge and understanding of ROGS and RGS; how they are applied to safe operation of the railway.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical abilities, with a strategic mindset and effective problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient in using analytical techniques such as 5 Whys, SWOT analysis, and Design Thinking.
  • Proven ability to provide leadership within a matrix organizational structure.
