Lead Instructor Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Instructor to join our dynamic team at Scout Adventures Gilwell Park. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality outdoor education programmes and activities to our participants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coaching and mentoring the instructing team to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to deliver exceptional programmes
  • Maintaining accurate records of staff training, assessment, and competency, as well as equipment and activity facilities
  • Assisting with the creation of group programmes and staff timetables to ensure seamless delivery
  • Ensuring relevant checks, processes, and paperwork are maintained to meet external and internal accreditation standards
  • Delivering adventurous activities and training to internal and external clients
  • Monitoring the safety and quality of activity sessions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants
  • Working as a Duty Manager, providing an on-call service during out-of-hours times and supporting with first aid and safeguarding
  • Assisting other staff with tasks such as taking bookings, checking in/out groups, and liaising with guests
Requirements
  • Competent IT skills, especially in office applications
  • Ability to supervise staff, delegate tasks, and encourage personal development
  • Experience working with High Ropes and Target Sports sessions and equipment
  • Experience working in an outdoor education or activity centre, with a wide range of groups and activities
  • Experience in leading, mentoring, and supporting others
  • Understanding of The Scout Association and our values
