Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

About the Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a welcoming 2-form entry primary school in Southwark. This role is integral to supporting children in Key Stage 2, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN). As a dedicated professional, you will provide 1:1 and small group support for children with SEN in the classroom.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) tailored to the child's needs. You will support children with a range of SEN, including speech and language delays, autism, and developmental delays, in delivering engaging and sensory-focused activities. Foster a nurturing, positive, and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with SEN in the classroom
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Support children with a range of SEN, including speech and language delays, autism, and developmental delays
  • Assist in delivering engaging and sensory-focused activities tailored to the children's needs
  • Foster a nurturing, positive, and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to staff and parents

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with SEN children, ideally within a primary or SEN school setting
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Relevant qualifications (such as NVQ/CACHE Level 2 in Childcare or SEN) are desirable but not essential
