The successful candidate will have experience in large-scale catering, preferably within an NHS environment, and hold relevant qualifications such as City and Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or an S/NVQ qualification along with a Food Hygiene Certificate. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills.

The Main Kitchen at Ayrshire Central Hospital provides over 600 patient-prepared and cooked meals every day, including therapeutic diets. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, cooking, and service of meals, as well as maintaining a high standard of hygiene and recording and monitoring data for HACCP and Environmental Health.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparation and cooking of meals, including therapeutic diets
  • Maintenance of high standards of hygiene and cleanliness
  • Recording and monitoring of data for HACCP and Environmental Health
  • Collaboration with the catering team to ensure smooth operation of the kitchen
