About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Community Development Specialist to join our team at Maximus UK. In this exciting opportunity, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong partnerships with local services and stakeholders to increase referrals into our service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving quality referrals to the service via professional and self-referral channels
  • Utilising an Asset Based Community Development approach to leverage and harness the richness of skills, experiences, and opportunities from across the areas and within communities
  • Building relationships with key referring pathways to establish innovative engagement techniques to ensure referrals are steady and targeted to key areas and priority groups
  • Working with our Marketing and Communications Team to support in our deployment and distribution of collateral / resources
  • Ensuring co-production opportunities are maximised across, seeking opportunities to meaningfully engage with priority groups and locations in the development of our service offer
  • Working collaboratively with the Community & Partnership Team in a coordinated way to reach out and maximise referral pathway opportunities
  • Proactively supporting all referral channels to ensure they understand how to refer, eligibility criteria and scope of service
  • Supporting in the development of cross-sector avenues for referral pathways into the service (as required), focusing on priority areas and groups
  • Supporting in the development of outward referral pathways to ensure safe and effective support to service users/participants when requiring additional services
  • Establishing strong and trusting relationships with a portfolio of wider services / organisations, to provide holistic support to individuals, families, and communities, including (but not limited to), employment services, financial support services, housing options and lifelong learning
  • Attending and presenting at GP Practice protected learning time
  • Attending and presenting at lifestyle related forums and networks
  • Supporting and attending community events and fun days
  • Supporting key referring stakeholders with learning opportunities so they can maximise their opportunity to make their contact count with individuals and build confidence to support and advocate lifestyle behaviour change

  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders and communities
  • Experience of presenting to large groups and chairing meetings
  • Experience of building and maintaining partnerships
  • Experience of having to prioritise caseload / manage own time effectively
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups
  • Being compassionate, confident, and self-motivated
  • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplined team
  • Empathy combined with a genuine desire and commitment to improve the quality of the lives of families
  • A resilient, non-judgmental, sensitive approach to working and motivating our partners, stakeholders, communities and services users / participants
  • Innovative in approach and delivery, able to think outside-the-box and present new engagement ideas
  • Strong observation, analytical and listening skills
  • IT literate especially working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage and priorities workload, anticipate needs and work on own initiative and as part of a high functioning team
  • Confident, self-motivated, passionate, flexible, adaptable, and creative
  • Qualifications and / or certificates that demonstrated skills and knowledge in community development is desirable
  • Experience of working in a health, voluntary sector, or social care environment
  • Qualifications and / or certificates that demonstrated a good understanding of the issue around maintaining a healthy lifestyle is desirable
  • Experience of working with health, voluntary sector or social care professionals / stakeholders is desirable
