As a Knowledge Lawyer, you will play a critical role in supporting our team with their work on mainstream corporate transactions, with a focus on mid-market M&A, corporate restructurings, and other corporate procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft and update precedents and guidance notes for use by fee earners, including liaising with lawyers on market practice.
  • Analyze latest developments in corporate law and ensure knowledge is promptly disseminated internally and externally.
  • Advise lawyers and junior team members on legal issues with timely and thorough answers, considering commercial context.
  • Act as a sounding board and provide second opinions to senior team members on points of law.
  • Provide research assistance and direct junior team members to relevant resources.
  • Deliver training, identifying training needs for lawyers at various experience levels and delivering training in conjunction with fee-earning lawyers.
  • Support business development initiatives, including client campaigns, training sessions, and other initiatives.
  • Stay up-to-date with legal technology solutions and liaise with other knowledge lawyers and information services personnel to train and familiarize the team with new products and processes.
  • Support strategy and business group meetings and take an active role in supporting group activities.
  • Draft and manage the department's Learning & Development plan and support plan delivery.
  • Maintain an up-to-date know-how repository of relevant example documents and encourage contribution from fee earners.
Requirements:
  • Established corporate knowledge lawyer or corporate fee earner transitioning into a knowledge lawyer role.
  • Qualified lawyer with significant relevant experience in corporate law.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to quickly gain confidence of fee earners at all levels.
  • Excellent legal research skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience in drafting in plain language and English.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Qualities fitting a cohesive, friendly, and supportive team.
  • Experience in designing and delivering training programs targeted at an audience.
  • Recent experience in negotiating M&A transactions and market practice desirable but not essential.
  • Interest in legal technology desirable, as the role requires assessment and evaluation of relevant products and reporting to partners.
  • Ability to work with various personalities across all levels of the firm.
