Job Title: Staff Software Engineer - Biotech Innovator

About Us: Opus Recruitment Solutions is a leading recruitment agency specializing in placing top talent in the tech industry.

Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our client, a pioneering Biotech company, in their Glasgow-based office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and Implement: Design and develop robust server-side logic to ensure optimal performance and responsiveness for both front-end and event-driven API requests.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with engineers, data scientists, and front-end developers to create innovative solutions that accelerate chemical discovery and transform the landscape of materials science.
  • Make an Impact: Contribute to the development and maintenance of scalable, high-performance cloud applications that drive business growth and success.

Requirements:

  • Strong Experience: Python (FastAPI/Django/Flask), SQL, and ORM frameworks such as SQLAlchemy.
  • Expertise: Kafka and/or RabbitMQ, cloud services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and object-oriented techniques.
  • Skills: Proficient understanding of code versioning tools like Git, familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment procedures and tools, and strong experience with Docker.
  • Qualifications: At least 10 years of experience writing production-grade, high-quality code in industry, strong work ethic, and growth mindset.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge: NoSQL, Graphs, and TimeSeries databases, startup experience, React & TypeScript, agile development methodologies, and degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • Additional Requirements: Excellent written and oral communications skills, and ability to commute to Glasgow-based office.
