Technical Sales Specialist

About the Role
The Presales team at SAS is seeking a highly skilled System Engineer to provide pre-sales and post-sales support in relation to the successful selling of SAS solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of technical concepts and their application to SAS applications and user needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and assess customer requirements, converting them into a detailed technical proposal in collaboration with the services delivery organizations in support of the sales vision.
- Deliver technical architecture related information, lead technical discovery sessions, and respond to architecture and infrastructure questions when necessary.
- Deliver standard and/or customized software demonstrations and presentations outlining the technical features, competitive advantages, and business benefits of SAS software as applied to client needs.
- Leverage detailed technical knowledge to support sales opportunities and implementations across solution domains.
- Assist in the response to RFI/RFPs by crafting thorough and complete answers.
- Strategize with sales teams to provide functional and technical leadership for sales opportunities.
- Participate in product and solution training to acquire and maintain a proficient level of product knowledge of core components of SAS offerings.
- Support partner development & enablement, as well as partnered sales opportunities.
- Understand, utilize, and communicate best practice methodologies and industry standards internally and externally.
- Provide demonstration and business development support at vendor-sponsored events, trade shows, and user group meetings.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience in technical sales, marketing, technical support, information systems, or a related area of expertise including three years of programming.
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, or other quantitative field related to area of assignment.
- Experienced to Advanced knowledge of SAS System tools.
- Good knowledge of Cloud technologies including Kubernetes.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Clear understanding of industry standards, methodologies, various technologies, architecture, and resources.
- Ability to relate technical concepts to SAS applications and user needs.
- Ability to work and learn independently and as part of a team.
- Travel as business requirements dictate.
