Consultant Ophthalmologist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a sub-specialty interest in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Ocular Motility, with expertise in medical and surgical management.

The appointee will work closely with colleagues within the CHFT Ophthalmology department, Calderdale and Huddersfield Clinical Commissioning Group, and Local Optical Committee to deliver a comprehensive ophthalmic service to the population served by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust.

Main Responsibilities
  • Providing in-patient and out-patient services
  • Specializing in Paeds surgery, ROP screening, clinical triage, and supervision of junior staff
  • Participating in further sub-specialty service development
Requirements
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) or equivalent
  • Registration with the General Medical Council and a Licence to Practise
  • Specialist registration for Ophthalmology or within 6 months of being admitted to the register for trainees
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Post CCT Fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology
  • Surgical experience in Paediatric Ophthalmology procedures
  • Minor Ophthalmology procedures experience
  • Postgraduate qualifications that can advance the department's needs
Teaching and Training
  • Experience of clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff
  • Academic achievements and evidence of familiarity with research methods
  • Training in clinical and educational supervision
Audit and Research
  • Knowledge of audit principles and evidence of participation in audit projects
  • Critical Appraisal Skills
  • Evidence of knowledge of research methodology
General
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Ability to work in various locations throughout the network of services provided by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust
  • Enhanced DBS disclosure required
