Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Scientific Editor and Coordinator to join our esteemed London-based membership organisation. The successful candidate will have a passion for scientific editing and proofreading, as well as demonstrable line management experience.

Job Description

This role will involve:

  • Technical editing of manuscripts to ensure consistency, scientific accuracy, and compliance with Journal policy.
  • Copyediting selected articles to house style.
  • Monitoring and improving key editorial processes, including manuscript peer-review and production.
  • Checking revised proofs and making essential corrections as necessary.
  • Acting as the main contact for the Editorial Office.
  • Line managing Editorial Assistants and providing guidance, training, and direction.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in a biological or biomedical sciences subject.
  • Proven experience in scientific publishing or an editorial office for scientific or academic journals.
  • Excellent written English and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to analyse and report on data activities.
