Main Job Description

As a key member of our team at Scott White and Hookins LLP, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality structural and civil engineering consultancy services to our clients. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the successful completion of various construction projects across the UK, including healthcare, commercial offices, education, retail, mixed-use, and residential schemes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain your professional skills through our approved ICE Training Programme, ensuring you stay up-to-date with the latest industry developments and best practices.
  • Conduct thorough engineering analysis and design calculations for structural and civil engineering projects, utilizing our latest technical software and expertise.
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality structural and civil engineering drawings and models, leveraging the latest versions of AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Contribute to our working groups, focusing on Technical, BIM, Sustainability, IT, Marketing, or Quality Assurance, to drive innovation and excellence within the company.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure the efficient completion of tasks and projects, maintaining open communication and collaboration.
  • Attend design team meetings, both remotely and on-site, to foster new and existing client relationships, and develop a deep understanding of project requirements.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior team members, helping them grow and develop their skills and expertise.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ICE-approved institution, such as a BEng, BSc, MEng, or MSc.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in local authority, consultant, or design office settings.
  • Detailed knowledge of steel, masonry, timber, and concrete structures, designed to the Eurocode.
  • Experience with structural analysis software and a strong understanding of its applications.
  • Familiarity with BIM and its importance in the construction industry would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to write clear reports, prepare technical drawings, and present ideas and concepts effectively.
  • A high level of IT proficiency, with experience in relevant analysis and design software.
