National Grid Electricity Distribution is looking for apprentices to join our team in the Midlands, Southwest England, and South Wales. As a Power Networks Fitter, you'll work on distribution systems up to 66kV and be part of Network Services, helping customers and supporting developers.

Our apprenticeship program includes 12 weeks of induction and on-the-job training, leading to a City & Guilds Level 2 Qualification in Electrical Engineering. You'll have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in electrical engineering, working on real projects and contributing to the success of our business.

Responsibilities and Requirements:
  • Safe construction, maintenance, and repair of the electrical power network
  • Routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of substation and protection equipment
  • Installation and termination of secondary wiring (small wiring)
  • Recording asset routes, details, and positions
  • Testing earthing, voltage, phasing, and phase rotation
  • Writing outage requests and switching programs for simple outages

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Safety awareness and ability to meet deadlines
