Job Title: Senior Professional Liability Underwriter

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Professional Liability Underwriter to join our team at SCOR. As a key member of our Professional Indemnity team, you will be responsible for underwriting direct and reinsurance risks within our renewal book and new business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage an allocation of existing cases within the portfolio, ensuring effective risk management and client retention.
  • Work closely with our London and Paris teams to coordinate underwriting efforts and achieve business objectives.
  • Actively market SCOR's Professional Indemnity appetite and capabilities to brokers, corporate clients, and ceding companies within the European market.
  • Seek out new business opportunities and lines of enquiry with existing and new broking contacts, demonstrating pitch-winning behavior.
  • Assist with internal reporting and requests for market intelligence, providing valuable insights to inform business decisions.
  • Support new product initiatives and actively research the Professional Indemnity class, keeping our PI manager informed of trends and market developments.
  • Underwrite within the SBS Casualty Guidelines and comply with required frameworks for referrals.
  • Manage the administration and processing of the allocated book, ensuring compliance with systems requirements, document storage, accounting, claims, and actuarial liaison as required.
Requirements:
  • Experience at a similar level relating to primary, excess, or reinsurance underwriting in Professional Indemnity Insurance, with a focus on the large corporate risk market.
  • Knowledge and experience of underwriting Media, Engineers, Contractors, Lawyers, Accountants, and Miscellaneous Professions.
  • Knowledge of the London and/or USA insurance markets is preferred.
  • Ability to manage allocated portfolios of cases with evidence of client retention.
  • Good knowledge of the Professional Indemnity class, including professions, wordings, trends, and market environment.
  • Able to develop strong relationships and contacts in the relevant marketplace.
  • Proactive management skills of own book, including early engagement on renewals and timely responses on new business.
Personal Competences:
  • Strong technical and analytical underwriting skills, including pricing, wordings, and ERM assessment.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and able to represent Business solutions/SCOR global P&C at conferences, professional meetings, and associations.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated individual with a track record of working in a busy team environment.
  • Team player with strong inter-personal skills.
  • Proficient PC skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required by business needs.
