About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Examiner Officer to join our team at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a Medical Examiner Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the Medical Examiner Service operates safely and effectively within national and local policy guidelines.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with Medical Examiners to scrutinize the circumstances and causes of death
  • Serving as a point of contact for relatives of deceased patients, healthcare professionals, coroner's office, and registration services
  • Coordinating the prompt completion of Medical Certificates of Cause of Death (MCCD) and cremation forms, liaising with bereaved families
  • Supporting the development of the Medical Examiner Service
Job Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree or equivalent relevant knowledge
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including excellent communication and empathy
  • Ability to organize work around competing demands and fluctuating workloads
  • Analytical skills to produce concise, accurate reports
  • Well-developed IT skills, including proficiency in Windows
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is £35,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer:
