Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Platform Developer to join our team in Manchester, UK. This is an exciting opportunity to work with innovative DevOps technologies and collaborate with experienced engineers.

The successful candidate will support our teams in developing and delivering proprietary and open-source projects across various application areas, including HPC, cloud, and mobile. They will be responsible for maintaining and improving the engineering platform, ensuring seamless running and availability to software developers.

The ideal candidate will have experience in automation using scripting languages like Python, administration of various Linux distributions, and the full software development lifecycle in a commercial or open-source environment.

Additionally, they will have a strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP. Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code for CI infrastructure automation, Agile principles, and CI tools like Jenkins, Docker, and AWS is highly desirable.

We operate a hybrid working policy, allowing for a balance between working from home and working from our office in the heart of Manchester.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance and improvement of the engineering platform
  • Support for software developers in using the platform
  • Development of new developer workflows, including Product Quality improvements and the Secure Development Lifecycle
Requirements:
  • Experience in automation using scripting languages like Python
  • Experience with the administration of various Linux distributions
  • Experience of the full software development lifecycle in a commercial or open-source environment
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code for CI infrastructure automation
  • Experience in a small team/start-up environment, appreciation for Agile principles
  • Experience with CI tools like Jenkins, Docker, and AWS
  • Some C/C++ development experience, knowledge of relevant build tools
  • Experience with networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP
