About the Opportunity

At Burns & McDonnell, we're seeking an experienced Electrical Principal Engineer to join our London office. As a key member of our global facilities services Mission Critical team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-tech building design and construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical design principles, IEE regulations, standards, and codes. Proficiency in AutoCad and Revit, as well as electrical and lighting calculation software, is essential. Experience in data center and telecommunication facility design, as well as knowledge of critical facility electrical design, is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on electrical systems and requirements to meet their needs and comply with safety codes.
  • Design electrical systems and equipment to meet client requirements.
  • Develop design criteria for air and water side of building mechanical systems.
  • Peer review electrical designs and specifications of equipment or systems.
  • Write specifications for electrical systems.
  • Monitor installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety codes.
  • Lead a team of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers.
  • Manage project costs within fee budgets.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Interact with clients and colleagues to achieve project objectives.
  • Work independently and as part of a global project team.
  • Support future business opportunities through client engagement and elevation of the Burns & McDonnell brand.
  • Personal professional development and participation in professional bodies and industry groups.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, or architectural from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 13 years of related Electrical design experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical design principles, IEE regulations, standards, and codes.
  • Proficiency in AutoCad and Revit.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and lighting calculation software.
  • Experience in data center or telecommunication facility design and critical facility electrical design.
  • Ability to write specifications for electrical equipment, devices, and materials.
  • Familiarity with other building systems and coordination with those systems and components.
  • IT literate, with good knowledge of using Microsoft Office applications.
