About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and committed General Practitioner to join our team at Musters Medical Practice to cover maternity leave for 12 months. The successful candidate will be registered with the GMC and have experience working in a GP surgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all patients.
  • Undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, and dealing with queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.
  • Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
  • Provide counselling and health education.
  • Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
Requirements
  • Experience of working in Primary Care, particularly in a General Practice setting.
  • Sound knowledge of the principles and values that support good medical practice.
  • Understanding of the drivers influencing primary care provision.
