Paediatric and Neonatal Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric and Neonatal Specialist to join our team at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Paediatric and Neonatal units, you will provide high-quality care to our patients and contribute to the provision of a comprehensive and efficient paediatric service across Milton Keynes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide general paediatric and neonatal services for the prevention, diagnosis, and management of illness and the proper functioning of the department.
- Participate in the rolling rota, including long days and night shifts, and regular sessions for supporting professional activities.
- Perform urgent Child Safeguarding Medicals when the concern is in the category of physical abuse, under the supervision of the consultant.
- Undertake general paediatric outpatient clinics and other special interest clinics as appropriate to the skills/interests of the post holder and as agreed at annual job planning.
- Maintain continuing professional development and attend relevant professional courses and meetings.
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- MD / DCH in Paediatrics
- MRCPCH
- Evidence of 2 years of General paediatrics experience including neonatology
- Tertiary unit neonatal experience
- Out of hours experience in Paediatrics
- Relevant specialty clinical knowledge: capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job.
- Clinical judgment: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to priorities clinical need.
- Capacity to be alert to dangers or problems
- Demonstrates awareness of good decision making
- Aware of own limitations.
- Research skills: demonstrates understanding of the principles of research, evidence of relevant academic and research achievements.
- Effective communication skills: demonstrates clarity in written/spoken communication and capacity to adapt language as appropriate to the situation.
- Organization and planning: capacity to organize oneself and priorities own work.
- Flexible approach to work: able to adapt and work with employers to deliver improved patient care.
- Equality and diversity: promotes equality and values diversity.
