About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric and Neonatal Specialist to join our team at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Paediatric and Neonatal units, you will provide high-quality care to our patients and contribute to the provision of a comprehensive and efficient paediatric service across Milton Keynes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide general paediatric and neonatal services for the prevention, diagnosis, and management of illness and the proper functioning of the department.
  2. Participate in the rolling rota, including long days and night shifts, and regular sessions for supporting professional activities.
  3. Perform urgent Child Safeguarding Medicals when the concern is in the category of physical abuse, under the supervision of the consultant.
  4. Undertake general paediatric outpatient clinics and other special interest clinics as appropriate to the skills/interests of the post holder and as agreed at annual job planning.
  5. Maintain continuing professional development and attend relevant professional courses and meetings.
Person Specification
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • MD / DCH in Paediatrics
  • MRCPCH
  • Evidence of 2 years of General paediatrics experience including neonatology
  • Tertiary unit neonatal experience
Clinical Skills
  • Out of hours experience in Paediatrics
  • Relevant specialty clinical knowledge: capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job.
  • Clinical judgment: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to priorities clinical need.

  • Capacity to be alert to dangers or problems
  • Demonstrates awareness of good decision making
  • Aware of own limitations.
