About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and engaging Complex Care Assistant to support an incredible gentleman living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance, including PEG, suctioning and using medical equipment such as oxygen concentrator, nebuliser, suction machines, PEG and BiPAP machine
- Engage in conversations and debates with our client, ensuring a stimulating and enjoyable environment
- Accompany our client on outings and to attend social activities, such as bowling and concerts
- Be available during the day for any assistance our client may require, while also respecting their independence and privacy
- Maintain a friendly and welcoming demeanor, fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere
Requirements
- Experience in providing personal care and using medical equipment is desirable but not essential as full training is provided
- Clear spoken English is essential with strong communication skills and the ability to engage in meaningful conversations
- Empathy, patience, kindness and understanding of individual needs
- Ability to adapt to varying situations and provide assistance as needed
- Knowledge of Spinal Muscular Atrophy or an interest and/or willingness to learn about this condition
