Job Title: Health, Safety and Environment Manager

Warburtons is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health, Safety and Environment Manager to join our team. As a key member of our site management team, you will be responsible for ensuring that effective management systems are in place to deliver our Company Occupational Health and Safety and Environment Policy and meet legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the National Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) strategy, ensuring compliance with statutory and company policy.
  • Manage HSE spend locally within budget.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to line managers on site in all aspects of Health, Safety and the Environment.
  • Foster a positive HSE culture by promoting accountability and providing coaching and facilitation to line managers.
  • Identify HSE learning needs for the site and provide cost-effective solutions.
  • Monitor and maintain the site's performance against the requirements of the Warburtons HSE management system.
  • Lead initiatives to improve commitment and continuously improve standards of HSE.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Health, Safety and Environment role, ideally in an FMCG organisation.
  • General knowledge of all aspects of Health, Safety and Environment with a good level of expertise in handling audits from internal and external parties.
  • Good knowledge of Health Safety and Environment legislation.
  • Minimum qualification NEBOSH certificate.
  • NEBOSH diploma or equivalent (or working towards).
  • Chartered Membership (or working towards) of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
  • IEMA Environmental Foundation certificate, for permitted sites IEMA Associate Certificate.
  • Knowledge of ISO14001, OHSAS18001 management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills: articulate, influential; persuasive; impactful verbal and written skills.
  • Excellent relationship builder- establishing credibility and building rapport with both internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • Problem solver: able to find a safe and compliant resolution to issues and promote safety as an enabler not a blocker.
  • Decisive: able to make decisions, in a timely manner, and be accountable.
