Astral Legal is seeking a seasoned Insurance Law Specialist to join their team as a Senior Legal Counsel. This is a full-time position based in London, reporting directly to the Head of Legal.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in insurance law, with experience in handling a variety of commercial and corporate contract issues. They will be responsible for advising on and coordinating the provision of advice on (re)insurance law issues, including wordings, delegation, and distribution contracts.

The Senior Legal Counsel will work closely with the Compliance team to provide regulatory and sanctions support, and collaborate with the Underwriting team and global-based lawyers on legal matters. They will also be responsible for maintaining wordings and processes in accordance with group-wide policies.

The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of insurance law and commercial contracts, with the ability to provide expert advice and guidance to the business. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Advise on and coordinate the provision of advice on (re)insurance law issues, including wordings, delegation, and distribution contracts.
  2. Provide regulatory and sanctions support to the Compliance team.
  3. Collaborate with the Underwriting team and global-based lawyers on legal matters.
  4. Maintain wordings and processes in accordance with group-wide policies.
  5. Advise the business on legal risks and provide support on training and support on new regulations.

Requirements:

  1. Qualified Lawyer with a strong background in insurance law.
  2. Experience in handling commercial and corporate contract issues.
  3. Strong understanding of insurance law and commercial contracts.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
