Job Title: Senior Laboratory Manager
Job Summary:
Spinwell is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Laboratory Manager to lead our Chemical Support Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory, managing a team of analysts, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate laboratory operations, including sample preparation, analysis, and reporting.
- Lead and motivate a team of analysts to achieve high-quality results and meet deadlines.
- Develop and implement quality management systems to ensure compliance with ISO 17025 and 17020 standards.
- Collaborate with customers, regulatory bodies, and internal auditors to ensure effective communication and compliance.
- Monitor and report on laboratory performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure the maintenance of UKAS accreditation and manage laboratory inter-comparison exercises.
- Develop and maintain technical documents, including method development and validation.
- Support the quality manager in developing and maintaining the quality management system.
- Manage nuclear material accountancy in the relevant laboratories.
Requirements:
- HND in Science or equivalent qualifications plus experience.
- Considerable analytical laboratory experience.
- Relevant radiochemical and chemical knowledge and experience.
- Mass spec knowledge and experience would be advantageous.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Team worker and able to interact effectively with staff at all levels.
- Good organisational and planning skills.
- Self-motivated and flexible.
- Ability to work under pressure and to time deadlines while maintaining quality of output.
