About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Case Worker to join our team at Running Deer School. As a Case Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with special educational needs, delivering therapeutic activities and learning experiences that promote emotional and academic growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver project-based learning as part of individualised educational learning plans
  • Develop and deliver therapeutic activities and learning experiences based on traditional, rural, and bushcraft skills
  • Work with children and young people to develop their individualised learning plans
  • Report daily on progress and provide guidance on personal development
  • Ensure the safeguarding of children and young people, working collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies
  • Act as a key worker for one or more children or young people, collating information and supporting their development

Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with:

  • Experience in youth work or education, preferably in a school environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Empathy and understanding of the needs of children and young people with special educational needs

Requirements

  • Level 3 or higher qualifications (A-level or equivalent)
  • Excellent core skills (Maths and English)
  • Demonstrable understanding of information technology, including online reporting systems

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience working in an outdoor environment
  • Teaching or training qualifications
  • Emergency First Aid at Work qualification

Working Environment

The majority of the work associated with this role will be outdoors, and you will work in inclement weather. This role can be physically demanding and includes walking and hiking on inclined and slippery ground, heavy lifting and carrying, and the use of hand tools.
