About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Learning Disability Screening Practitioner to join our team at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will play a key role in increasing breast, bowel and cervical screening, AAA and diabetic eye screening uptake in people with learning disabilities.
Main Responsibilities
The Learning Disability Screening Practitioner will work closely with system partners, the community sector and people with a learning disability to increase uptake of the national screening programmes. This will involve clarifying reasons for persons being on hold or ceased from programmes, enabling case finding of persons with learning disability and eligible for screening, and undertaking a baseline assessment to develop and implement an improvement plan.
Key Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a registered practitioner, public health professional or lived experience peer worker with a degree or diploma level qualification supplemented by post-registration training. They will also have experience at Practitioner Band 5 level or equivalent, and demonstrable knowledge of assessment and health promotion interventions in the area of specialism.
