Job Description:

Al-Khair Foundation is seeking a skilled Script Writer & Voice Over Artist to join our team in East London. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for creating engaging scripts for video documentaries, promotions, news, advertisements, and other production genres.

• Research and Content Development:
  • Conduct thorough research on the documentary's subject matter, including historical context, interviews, articles, books, and primary sources.
  • Collaborate with researchers and subject matter experts to gather information and insights.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the subject matter to craft a well-informed and accurate narrative.
• Scriptwriting:
  • Create a compelling, well-structured script that conveys the documentary's message effectively.
  • Write engaging and concise narration, dialogues, and voiceovers that resonate with the target audience.
  • Ensure the script aligns with the documentary's purpose and communicates the intended message.
• Storytelling and Narrative Structure:
  • Develop a clear and engaging narrative arc, incorporating a beginning, middle, and end.
  • Create compelling storylines, characters, and visual descriptions that captivate viewers.
  • Use creative techniques to maintain viewer interest throughout the documentary.
• Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the producer, and other team members to align the script with the director's vision and the project's goals.
  • Be open to feedback and revisions, and collaborate to refine the script during production.
• Style and Tone:
  • Ensure that the documentary's script reflects the desired tone and style, whether it's informative, emotional, inspirational, or a combination of these elements.
  • Adapt the writing style to suit the subject matter and audience.
• Adherence to Guidelines:
  • Follow industry standards and guidelines for documentary scriptwriting.
  • Ensure factual accuracy, especially in historical or educational documentaries.
• Deadlines and Time Management:
  • Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
  • Be adaptable and capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.

  Person Specification
  • Good passes in Maths and English at GCSE, O'levels or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience in print media for marketing purposes.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a studio environment with a similar target audience.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of a studio environment.
  • Good IT skills with the ability to understand basic software used with an IT component.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and adapt to change.
  • Ability to work well on own initiative.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role and meet the business needs.
