Job Title: GIS Specialist

Thames Water is seeking a skilled GIS Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team, System Insights. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the timely delivery of actionable insights to our Asset Strategy and Planning Community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with hydraulic modellers, analysts, and other GIS specialists to provide insight into key programmes, including Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans and Price Reviews.
  • Conduct advanced spatial analysis and modelling to identify patterns, trends, and correlations.
  • Develop automated workflows to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Use visualisation techniques and develop self-service tools to streamline the delivery of outputs.
  • Utilise the latest technologies to work with data in new ways, identifying solutions to new and existing problems and finding ways to streamline existing processes.
Requirements:
  • Experience working in a data-driven environment as a GIS specialist or in a similar role.
  • Prior background in the water industry or a related field and familiarity with network infrastructure and asset data.
  • Highly proficient in using GIS software and tools, including Esri ArcGIS.
  • Strong knowledge of spatial analysis and visualisation techniques.
  • Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of automating workflows within ArcGIS Model Builder, Data interoperability/FME or Databricks.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Ruby, SQL or R.
  • Background of remote sensing, image processing, or LiDAR data.
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies.
What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary from £40,000 to £50,000 per annum.
  • 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service (Plus bank holidays).
