We are looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our team at OCU Group LTD.

This is a high-profile role that involves supporting the full lifecycle of electrical engineering projects, from client engagement to design delivery and handover.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing detailed designs, coordinating the production and maintenance of electrical drawings, and using CAD software to deliver panel layouts, circuit diagrams, Single Line Diagrams & Bill of Materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Principal Design Engineer in the estimating, tendering, and planning of new projects;
  • Producing conceptual designs, detail designs, manufacturing specifications, operational documentation, and validation evidence for electrical engineering solutions;
  • Coordinating the production and maintenance of electrical drawings;
  • Using CAD software to deliver panel layouts, circuit diagrams, Single Line Diagrams & Bill of Materials;
  • Contributing to construction configuration baselines;
  • Delivering high-quality technical reports and presentations;
  • Identifying and supporting opportunities for cost savings, efficiency, and business improvement;
  • Preparing work schedules and allocating resources;
  • Supervising junior engineers and sub-contractors;
  • Providing engineering support to HV projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline, ideally with Chartered Engineer status;
  • Experience working in industry, preferably in a contracting environment, creating bespoke solutions using digital and analogue technologies;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of DNO Industry Best Practice is desirable;
  • Able to motivate teams, coach team members, and lead project H&S processes;
  • Thorough understanding of both LV and HV design work within a contracting environment;
  • Ability to support in the quotation of new works using estimating software.

Estimated Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
