Job Description

Shropshire Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced finance professional to fill the role of Finance Business Partner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert financial advice to senior managers, budget holders, and directors on financial management, accounting issues, and value for money.
  • Take an active role in the management and implementation of high-value and complex programmes and contracts, ensuring excellence in reporting, analysis, financial control, and decision-making.
  • Develop and implement effective short, medium, and longer-term planning, analytically reviewing financial performance and identifying underlying cost drivers.
  • Maintain and develop effective working relationships with senior management, providing a liaison between the Finance team and the teams within the business.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional to join Shropshire Council's Finance Business Partnering team, providing a strategic and value-added service to the Council.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with senior managers and directors, providing expert financial advice and support to drive business success.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications and experience in finance and accounting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to work.
