The Governors are seeking to appoint a dedicated School Maintenance Assistant to join our team. This role is integral to our school's success, playing a crucial part in enhancing the teaching and working environment for young people and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Our ideal candidate will have experience working in educational environments and a good understanding of health & safety regulations, including CoSHH and risk assessments. We offer support and mentoring to ensure the successful candidate can excel in this role.
The salary for this position is estimated at £25,000 per annum, reflecting the importance of this role in maintaining our school premises and facilities.
Job Description:
We are looking for an individual who can work independently and as part of a team to manage day-to-day repairs, maintenance, and security tasks. The School Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for:
- Security: Opening up and locking up premises
- Maintenance: Minor and major repairs, DIY tasks
- Operations: Managing heating, lighting, and other facilities
- Safety: Conducting various safety checks including HASAW and COSHH
- Reporting: Identifying and reporting major repair issues
- Contractor Management: Directing contractors on-site to their designated work areas
- Supplies: Ensuring an adequate supply of toiletries on a daily basis
- Compliance: Conducting Water Hygiene Systems Monitoring and weekly fire alarm tests
- Inventory: Managing stock and supplies efficiently
Required Skills and Qualifications:
We require someone with excellent communication skills, the ability to work flexibly, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. A good understanding of health and safety procedures and a willingness to learn and develop new skills are essential.
