Job Title: Trauma Informed Navigator

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Trauma Informed Navigator to join our team at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a Trauma Informed Navigator, you will work closely with young people who have experienced trauma, providing them with the support and guidance they need to navigate complex systems and access essential services.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people. As a Trauma Informed Navigator, you will work in a peripatetic capacity, visiting young people in their homes, at locations across Derby City Centre, and at other settings as required. Your role will involve building positive relationships, trust, and empowerment with young people, using a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and motivational interviewing approach.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide advocacy, mentorship, and navigation support to young people who have experienced trauma.
  • Work in partnership with local authorities, children in care health teams, and other stakeholders to ensure young people receive the support they need.
  • Use specific engagement techniques, such as motivational interviewing and strengths-based approaches, to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Act as an advocate and mentor for young people, promoting their rights and voice while upholding statutory guidance and local policies.
  • Champion the safeguarding needs of clients, submitting safeguarding referrals and contributing to safeguarding planning.
Requirements
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification.
  • Trained in Motivational Interviewing.
  • Experience of Trauma Informed Advocacy and Mentoring.
  • Experience of working with young people with complex issues.
  • Evidence of partnership working and good communication skills.
