London, Greater London, United Kingdom King's College London Full time
About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join our team at King's College London. This is an exciting opportunity for you to be part of a large project investigating new approaches for retinal neuroprotection and restoration of vision. As a Postdoctoral Research Assistant, you will play a key role in developing gene therapy approaches for retinal neuroprotection and optic nerve regeneration.

Using preclinical models, you will test and develop novel gene therapies to promote axon regeneration through the optic nerve and towards the visual centres of the brain. Your expertise in animal models of disease or injury, particularly in eye or neuro-biology, will be crucial in this role. You will work closely with our world-leading experts to advance our understanding of axon growth and regeneration, and identify potential targets for stimulating guided regeneration through the diseased or injured nerve.

This is a full-time post, funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC), with a fixed-term contract until 5 January 2028. We offer a competitive salary, ranging from £40,000 to £50,000 per annum, depending on your experience and qualifications. If you have a PhD in a relevant subject area, with evidence of high-quality research activity, we encourage you to apply.
