About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Scientific Officer (SSO) to join our Cancer RNA Dynamics group at The University of Manchester.

This multifaceted role combines administrative management and scientific advancement of our laboratory. You will oversee daily lab operations, design and execute experiments, and provide crucial support to the principal investigator.

Key responsibilities include participating in research portfolio experiments focused on identifying novel targets for preventing malignant breast cancer. You will also handle various administrative tasks, such as recruitment, finance, communications, events management, and scientific administration.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in biological or medical sciences and demonstrate extensive organisational and experimental skills. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to ground-breaking cancer research while ensuring smooth laboratory operations.

Job Requirements
  • BSc (or equivalent) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related discipline (or have equivalent relevant experience)
  • Research experience at the PhD level is desirable
  • Experience in managing scientific research projects with minimal supervision, preferably within the realm of RNA biology
  • Excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is £45,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
