About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Boilermaker / Metal Fabricator to join our team at Skilled Jobs Australia. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for repairing and fabricating various products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Weld various thicknesses of stainless-steel, including sheet metal, to a high standard structurally and aesthetically.
  • Fabricate basic metal products as necessary within the food production area when damaged.
  • Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements.
  • Select, clean, and prepare metal stock.
  • Cut marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches, and metal cutting machines.
  • Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering.
  • Align parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Join metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting, and riveting.
  • Examine welds for width of bead, penetration, and precision.
  • Finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing, and bathing in acidic solutions.
  • Clean and smooth welds by filing, chiselling, and grinding.

About You:

We are looking for a skilled tradesperson with a strong work ethic who takes pride in their work and can work effectively as part of a team.

Requirements:

  • Qualified as a Boilermaker / Metal Fabricator through an apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Able to work efficiently on your own or within a team environment.
