Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified HVAC instructor to join our team at Virginia Peninsula Community College. As an adjunct faculty member, you will teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and/or up to 8 credit hours during the summer semester.

Your primary responsibility will be to design and deliver instruction for day and evening classes, focusing on HVAC classes such as Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Heat Pumps, Heating Systems I and II, Circuits and Controls, Planning and Estimating, and Mechanical Codes.

To ensure student success, you will be responsible for assessing student performance, maintaining accurate records of student progress, and submitting final grade rosters to the division administrator by established deadlines.

This is a part-time position with no guarantee of continued employment. You may be required to work at all campus locations.

Requirements
  • A BS or AAS degree in HVAC, Refrigeration, or Air Conditioning, plus a minimum of two years of occupational experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff, and administrators as an individual or as part of a team.
  • Willingness to serve the needs of traditional and non-traditional students from various backgrounds and age groups.
  • Able to modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to measure, assess, and align student outcomes within courses or programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Community college teaching experience.
  • Teaching experience in online or hybrid, and traditional face-to-face classroom modalities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in using instructional technologies and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).

Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
