Key Responsibilities:

  • Working within the Waterman project management system, using Waterman specified project management tools and procedures to deliver projects.
  • Project planning, including developing and executing project execution plans for all projects under responsibility.
  • Leading cross-discipline project teams, building team capability, and stakeholder confidence.
  • Managing the flow of information between Waterman teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and applying performance management techniques, including the use of KPIs to improve project performance.
  • Managing the change control process, ensuring the production of formal progress and other reports to project directorate and management.
  • Responsible for delivering revenues assigned from specific clients as a result of repeat business caused by flawless execution of projects.
  • Consistently delivering profit margins planned.
  • Consistently completing projects without write-downs or erosions.
  • Identifying project risks and opportunities.
  • Directing other Project Managers in recognizing risk and uncertainty with plans to mitigate and eliminate such.
  • Directing staff to operate and minimize exposure to claims.
  • Experience of managing sub-contracts as a means of delivering key works.
  • A track record of innovation, embracing new ways of working, and use of digital tools.
  • Experience of Design & Build, either working in a Contractor organization within Design-based organization working with contractor and can demonstrate great ability to control these activities.
  • Knowledge of different contracting types, especially target cost. Experience of resolving disputes, leveraging contracts to grow opportunities.
  • Ability to ensure robust programs are in place. Provide evidence of ability to use programs to report clearly to key stakeholders and delivery against milestones.
  • Familiar with Network Rail, TfL, and major contractor clients' delivery process through demonstrable project experience.
Minimum Requirements:
  • B.Eng in engineering.
  • Preferred Qualifications: C.Eng/MIStructE - Chartered status.
  • A full UK driving license.
  • Familiar with Network Rail, TfL, and other key clients' delivery process and requirements.
  • Project management qualifications.
  • Significant experience in the UK Rail sector in a particular engineering discipline/multidiscipline rail project.
  • Has undertaken CEM/CRE or Project management role on multidisciplinary rail infrastructure projects.
  • Familiar with public sector framework management and delivery.
