About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Handyman to join our team at Mears, working alongside the London Borough of Havering Council in our Social housing background. As a Handyman, you will be responsible for delivering excellent service and support through our local teams, who understand the importance of working together for the local community.

A successful Handyman within our Rainham branch will be part of a local team undertaking high-standard General repairs and refurbishment activities to Housing properties, delivering best-in-class customer service and satisfying all safety, quality, and cost control standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake high-standard General repairs and refurbishment activities to Housing properties.
  • Deliver best-in-class customer service and satisfy all safety, quality, and cost control standards.
  • Take ownership of construction, fault-finding, and maintenance repairs, aiming for a first-time completion while remaining within budget and time parameters.
  • Ensure the customer experience is central to all activities by adopting a professional manner when communicating with service users, clients, and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Process all activities in association with tasks/works electronically using a handheld device (PDA).
  • Keep all supplied company assets in a good condition in line with company policies and report to your Supervisor/Manager where damages occur.
  • Utilise existing stock or collect materials as and when required to meet works order requirements.
  • Attend informal and formal meetings and training sessions as required.

Requirements:

  • General handyman experience.
  • Driving Licence.
  • Own tools.
  • Willingness to support tenants with concerns.
  • Working as part of a large team.
