Job Title: Children's Occupational Therapist

Bath and North East Somerset Council is seeking a skilled Children's Occupational Therapist to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and in social care in Bristol.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct moving and handling assessments and provide advice on hoists, slings, and risk assessments to address the specific needs of children in their home environment.
  • Assess and provide specialist equipment, including beds, shower/bath seats, and toileting aids, to assist with daily activities.
  • Provide minor adaptations, such as door widening, grab rails, and safety measures, to support children's needs.
  • Conduct home adaptations assessments to identify potential needs for adaptations through the national Disabled Facility Grant.
  • Support social housing applications by assessing children's access needs and identifying specific requirements for rehousing.
  • Attend child in need and safeguarding meetings, working closely with Social Workers and the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a Children's Occupational Therapist in the community.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as an Adult Social Care OT.
  • Specialist OT service experience working with children with neuromuscular, genetic, or profound developmental disabilities.
  • Experience in assessing and providing major adaptations, such as ramps and stairlifts, and manual handling equipment.
  • Understanding of Major Adaptations.
  • Manual handling experience.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Enhanced DBS/CRB (can be obtained).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Occupational Therapist Qualification.
