Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Bright Horizons Bracknell Day Nursery and Preschool. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Chef in the preparation and presentation of age-appropriate food to high standards in a clean, tidy, safe, and pleasant environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Chef in the preparation and cooking of meals for children, ensuring that all food is presented in a visually appealing manner.
- Work in partnership with the Cook, nursery team, and parents to support the nursery's care and education provision.
- Keep accurate records of supplies and report order requirements to the Chef.
- In the absence of the Chef, be responsible for the safe running of the kitchen.
Requirements:
- Experience in any role involving cooking in domestic or commercial property.
- Food Safety CIEH L2 or above or equivalent - this must be passed on day 1 in post.
- Sound knowledge of COSHH.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience in any role that involved cooking for young children.
- Understanding of EHO process.
- Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirements around food allergies.
Personal Attributes:
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to communicate with both adults, children, and parents.
- Ability to communicate clearly using a variety of techniques.
- Ability to encourage team effort.
