We are seeking an experienced Head of Software Development to lead our software development team and drive the development of our smart transport solutions.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the software development team, overseeing the development of our iConnex software product, and contributing to the company's product roadmap.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the software development team, including regular catch-ups, performance reviews, and holiday/absence planning.
  • Oversee the development of the iConnex software product, including Laravel web-based frontend and backend, and embedded software for real-time devices.
  • Contribute to the design and planning of the iConnex software and related products.
  • Input into the selection of new technologies and identification of technology areas that can be brought into the system.
  • Ensure company adherence to technology and industry standards.
  • Manage the software development process, including organizing regular scrums, code reviews, and managing the scrum board.
  • Develop in-house approaches to unit and integration testing, and help develop a comprehensive test suite.
  • Oversee system documentation and contribute to the company product roadmap.
  • Coordinate project deliverables, timescales, and monitor project progress with the Delivery & Support Director.
  • Regularly report on development progress to the management team.
  • Ensure approach to system security as the software level and adoption of best practice.
  • Liaise with systems administrator to plan system patching.
  • Oversee and define timescales for system and software package version upgrades.
  • Define and select software development roles both external and internal.
Requirements
  • Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Maths, Physics, or related degree.
  • 10+ software development experience.
  • 5+ years previous software development team management/leading experience.
  • Technical Skills - Essential:
