Job Title: Lead for Pharmacy Technician Training

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, manage, and organise medicines management and clinical services, satellite pharmacies, and near-patient dispensing schemes in the surgical CPU.
  • Provide leadership and manage the work of Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants.
  • Ensure effective utilisation of staff and manage staff rosters to deploy people and skills appropriately.
  • Accurately and efficiently manage pharmacy stock in satellite dispensaries.
  • Systematically administer pharmacy IT systems.
  • Develop and deliver structured training programmes and competency assessments for pharmacy technicians and assistants.
  • Develop, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and Dispensary Policies.
  • Proactively manage risk and maintain safety.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve processes, services, and patient safety within the services, pharmacy department, and the Trust.
  • Contribute to, implement, and champion pharmacy Cost Improvement Plan initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Level 3 Diploma in The Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or a recognised Pharmacy Technician Qualification meeting requirements for registration with GPhC.
  • Post Graduate Leadership and Management qualification or combination of relevant short courses.
  • Clinical Pharmacy Services Diploma for Pharmacy Technician (BTEC L4).
  • Medicines Management Course Certification.
  • Member of Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK.
  • Continuous Improvement/Project Management Qualification.
  • Relevant experience within pharmacy services, including supervisory/team leadership experience.
  • Operational experience where management and leadership qualities have been demonstrated.
  • Staff development/training/teaching experience.
  • Experience of efficient stock management systems and supply processes.
  • Knowledge and experience of EMIS Pharmacy and ARX/Omnicel robot systems.
  • Experience of audit and performance monitoring; collecting, analysing, and presenting data and information.
  • Experience of developing standard operating procedures and policies.
  • Knowledge of risk management processes.
  • Awareness of medicines legislation and developments within pharmacy practice.
  • Experience with service development and continuous improvement projects.
  • Project Management Skills.
