Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team in the Emergency Department at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in providing safe and effective care to patients, ensuring accurate and timely blood collection and processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect blood samples from patients in the Emergency Department, adhering to strict safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain phlebotomy equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care, providing accurate and timely blood results.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of best practices in phlebotomy.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to patient and staff inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in phlebotomy or a related field, with a strong understanding of blood collection and processing procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work a rotational shift pattern, including days, nights, and weekends.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, with a desire to stay up-to-date with the latest phlebotomy techniques and best practices.
