Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Specialist to work as part of a multi-functional team, creating 2D and 3D solid modelled designs for a wide range of products from small components to large complex sub-systems.
The successful applicant will have experience of using CAD software and managing the engineering and manufacturing interface through relevant manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed designs and data packs suitable for manufacture, taking conceptual information or component lists from Lead Design Engineers.
- Manage the engineering change process against a robust change management process as designs progress through the manufacturing, test, delivery, and support lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Technicians to consider manufacturing improvements and liaise with sub-contract manufacturers or suppliers where necessary.
- Oversee production and assembly practices associated with equipment manufacture, identifying long-lead piece parts.
- Work with electrical engineers to create circuit diagrams and wiring schedules.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Essential qualifications include:
- Current experience in a senior designer role.
- Expertise in 2D and 3D CAD design tools, preferably Siemens NX.
- Experience designing to meet environmental requirements (EMC, Shock and Vibration).
- Knowledge of BS8888 Engineering Drawing standards.
- Competent Microsoft Office applications user.
