HC-One, a leading provider of residential, nursing, and specialist dementia care for older people, is seeking an experienced Safeguarding Health and Safety Professional to join their team. As the Head of Health & Safety, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures across all levels of the organisation.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in ensuring a positive health and safety culture, driving safety ownership, and collaborating with managers and employees to achieve strategic aims. You will lead investigations into major incidents, create action plans for organisational learning and risk control, and implement industry best practices.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Risk Assessment Framework: Establish a framework for risk assessments across the business to identify potential hazards.
  • Health and Safety Training: Provide expert oversight to ensure health and safety training and education are fit for purpose and delivered effectively.
  • Legislation and Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with changes in health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Accurate Records: Implement processes to maintain accurate records.
  • Audit and Oversight: Develop an audit and oversight process to assure safety performance.

To succeed in this role, you will hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Occupational Safety, and advanced qualifications or demonstrable senior experience in a safety subject. Experience working in a similar role in a busy, people-focused environment with responsibility for health and safety in a multi-site environment is essential.

You will be an excellent communicator, able to influence, coach others, and build credibility across all levels. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required, as well as the ability to work under pressure and deal with challenging situations. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and you will be expected to recognise signs of possible abuse, harm, or neglect and know how to escalate concerns if necessary.

Hiring Manager has estimated that the salary range for this position is £55,000-£70,000 per year, based on the company's budget and the location (UK).
