Role Overview: BMS Project Engineer

We are seeking an experienced BMS Project Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have proven experience working on all stages of projects from design to completion. Key responsibilities include designing, specifying, costing, and managing BMS projects, including major upgrades and refurbishment works.

The BMS Project Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Solution design and specification
  • Client management
  • Subcontractor management
  • Project delivery support

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Managing site activities for BMS surveys, audits, and data gathering
  • Leading day-to-day management of BMS design and specification

Design Stage

  • Delivering BMS designs in accordance with design management procedures, including:
  • Managing site surveys, audits, and data gathering to inform BMS design and specification
  • Reviewing subcontractor/supplier drawings and technical submittals for compliance with regulations and standards

Tendering Stage

  • Providing a clearly defined specification document covering BMS design
  • Developing compliant proposals and business cases for tenders

Project Planning and Delivery

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Proven experience working on BMS controls projects in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience delivering projects in public and private sectors, preferably in NHS, government, and local authority environments
  • Ability to provide costed BMS designs and specifications, with knowledge of tendering processes
  • Commercial and financial management skills
  • Knowledge of multiple BMS systems, networks, and remote communications
  • Working safely with electrical systems and control panels
  • Asbestos awareness and CDM awareness

Beneficial Experience, Qualifications, and Training

  • BMS qualifications in all aspects of BMS controls design and delivery
  • Thorough working knowledge or ability to produce controls design documentation, such as functional design specifications and alarm matrices
  • Industry-standard electrical qualifications and/or competencies
