We are recruiting for Mechanical Fitters at BAE Systems Govan, where you will play a critical role in the construction of type 26 frigates.

The ideal candidate will have a background in heavy industry, mechanical fault finding, and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic system repair and maintenance is also essential.

The salary for this position is between £19.40 and £35.62 per hour.

Candidates must have proof of apprenticeship certifications and obtain security clearance before starting on site.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Heavy industry experience
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Mechanical fault finding
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic system repair and maintenance
  • Basic machining and assembly activity
  • Use of general workshop machinery and hand tools
  • Installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment
  • Working safely with machine hand tools
  • Ability to work on own initiative and follow operating instructions
  • Problem-solving skills
